No, no it's not* another mom blog, stand down guys 😂
It's just a one off as the last 12+ months have been a ride!
*Plus there are too many awesome moms out there doing it way better than I ever could (keep reading for the best of the best)
So it's not very often you hear the term "surprise baby" but that's exactly what we got, well, 2 months notice. (This sitch is a whole other saga in itself 🫠) But anyways this didn't allow much time for prepping so motherhood was kind of thrust upon me & man that was a head fuck!
Like, not a bad thing, not even a little bit but fuck me, it's ALOT. Big up allllll the mamas out there cause for reals, women are absolute power!!!

Through the wee hours of the mornings my algorithm has switched from videos of skateboarding fails, cute dogs & thermal fart cameras (the latter still pops up) to milestones, post partum recovery & extremely aesthetic nighttime routines (mostly unrealistic versions if I'm being honest)
Anyways, that made me think it would be worthwhile documenting my experience for anyone else who may relate or need more internet honesty. The mama's out there keeping it real have helped me keep some semblance of sanity & for that I am eternally grateful.
Navigating this new life (and new me) has been the absolute best but also (waiting for the judgement...) the absolute worst...
It pushes every fibre of your being, mentally, emotionally and physically. I have met so many different versions of myself this last year they could start a football team! And you know what? I really don't like them all!
Honestly though, it's like sitting a daily psych test that you constantly fail.

The tears are real, the lows... so so real, but how do you explain that when it's such a blessing? Not wanting to show anyone how much you feel like you're sinking at times because you couldn't bare for anyone to think you aren't so totally & utterly grateful for this wonderful gift. (this kid is an actual miracle 🤍) Taking moments of solace with other mamas who just 'get it' like there's some kind of unwritten code. The knowing look, the extra warm hug, the "but how are YOU" when everyone else is just asking how the baby sleeps!!?!?! (No shade, I ask this one all the time!)
Sleep when the baby sleeps = what?... do the dishes when the baby does the dishes? Have a shower when the baby has a shower? And alllllllllll the other shit you need to do! That bit is the dumbest right!?!?
And this is coming from someone who has the best people behind her; a partner who is killing it, a family who jump at the chance to help & close friends who actually give a shit. The support is there but no one tells you the battle you'll have inside your own mind & body.

Postpartum is NOT for the weak. It will legit kick your ass!
- Moving from one location to another is like a military operation!
- No matter how tired you are, hahahah tough luck my dude!
- Self employed? Just nope 🫠
- Hormones? Holy shitting, fucking, bloody hell. It's not even funny.
- The physical stuff... bleeding, sweating, (YOU CAN'T FEEL HALF OF YOUR STOMACH ANYMORE!!!), losing your hair, yano, all the good stuff!
- Feeling sooooo lonely but never actually being alone.
And then there's the fear, that you want to protect this little sentient potato from all the evil & hurt in the world and that shit is massive! Like if you ever wanted to put even more unnecessary pressure on yourself then this'll do it. Survival mode is fully engaged & sanity feels like a long lost past time, (like when you rode off on wild adventures in the summer holidays as a kid, with your mates, a backpack, & a the biggest imagination. Remembered in a very wistful & hazy way.)
And we've not even covered the 'back to work' when the baby's just 5 weeks old cause you have a business to run and... cozzie livs (you don't wanna have the kid living off of pasta & butter like you would 😂)
So this is where the circus tricks come into play... the juggling, the plate spinning... that's if you can even spin plates when they're in pieces 🙃 It's just something else honestly. And in this economic climate!?!?!???! It's like The Krypton Factor on meth. (age revealing reference there am I right?) Grabbing a half hour here & 20 minutes there to try & achieve what I once had unlimited time to manage is definitely something my fog addled brain is struggling to comprehend.

With every stage comes some form of reward and something that's feels a little like corporate punishment and the fun thing is you don't know what the payoff is or the penalty, until it's actually happening 👍
Anyways, that stuff aside, every single bad thing in the world just completely melts when you see that adorable little face look up at you smiling. Motherhood is wild! It's raw, it's incredible, it's fucking mental! But I wouldn't change it...
Like I said, the tears are so so real!

Ok, that's enough of my mind's wanderings so here's a bunch of mamas who are doing a solid job of showing the world the REAL LIFE rollercoaster of being a mom...
@the.tradie.wife // Welsh, funny as fuck, real life momming, head of tourism Wales.
@i_am_mum_bum // Reminding us "it doesn't fucking matter", with a book on the way!
@notyourbasicmama // unapologetically cool, awesome side hustler, deffo not basic!
@finestimaginary // Small biz mom giving the best business (and mom) advice.
@mre.soeur // Style guru mom, classy travel tips, all the GOSSIP, queen.
