What's the Craic with Junkfest then...

So, you'll be used to hearing a load of stuff about Junkfest and I kind of felt it would be nice to give y'all the tea on what it's all about cause it really isn’t your average event...

It all started back in 2023 when we decided to put on an all-dayer to celebrate our 10th year in business which (after covid) was something worth celebrating.

Being in a band has brought me into the most wonderful community of alternative bands, artists & musicians, the UK DIY scene is thriving (probs cause shits so tough right now it's brought the punk & emo out in us all 😂) With this community being so bloody ace (and Junkfest 1 being a huge success) we decided to keep going.

3 years on & we've/you've created something really special. An event that's regular (we're running seasonal shows now so y'all get 4 a year 🤘, that brings underground alt/punk/emo artists from across the UK & beyond together (giving folk an opportunity to see bands they may not get to see otherwise), that's affordable (cause cozzie livs, am i right?), and is inclusive (because that's what this community is!)

To be completely transparent here (cause it's important we all speak up) we support all our LGBTQ+ friends, trans women ARE women, Black Lives Matter, the mental health crisis is real, racism is NOT tolerated, immigrants enrich our culture & society, and kindness & compassion over all 💛

Anyways, here's what it's all about...

That doesn’t mean soft sweet twee tunes & Peppa Pig all over the place…
Expect passionate, meaningful, poignant music about real shit that folk care about. 𝘠𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘺 & 𝘺𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴.

Yes it’s called Junkfest and yes we put it together but this is a 𝘾𝙊𝙈𝙈𝙐𝙉𝙄𝙏𝙔!
Expect a bunch of creative, independent folk doing what they do best around people who appreciate their art.

Good! That’s the idea!
We bring bands from across the UKs alt DIY scene.
Fiercely independent bands who truly care about the music they create (𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘫𝘰𝘣𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰)

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲!
I mean there’s gonna be some nobbers that think “𝘰𝘰𝘰𝘩𝘩𝘩𝘩 £10 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘐’𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘧” but you know what?
They can get fucked!
We keep the door fee as low as possible so not to exclude folk with limited income. It’s about £2 per act on the bill.
And we do have low income tickets available cause no one should feel they can’t be a part of this due to lack of funds!

Any extra over artists, crew, artwork & marketing goes to a charity we love and have worked with for a long time.

Yea, everyone has an opinion on AI & that’s fine but honestly I don’t care!
We ain’t using that slop to promote our shows!
We know some talented artists & illustrators so yes we will pay them a chunk of cash to create a piece of art to celebrate & promote our shows!
